MSI MPG 341CQR X36 Brings At $899 With 360Hz QD-OLED, 1300-Nit HDR

MSI has released the MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 globally, bringing a 34-inch ultrawide with a 360Hz OLED panel to market at $899 after a series of price cuts.

The monitor uses a 3440×1440 resolution with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 1800R curvature, a format used in ASUS TUF Gaming VG34WQML5A. It runs at up to 360Hz with a 0.03 ms response time. Adaptive sync support includes G-Sync Compatible and FreeSync Premium Pro.

At its core is a 5th-generation Tandem QD-OLED panel built on a 5-layer structure using EL Gen 3 technology, following developments outlined in Samsung QD-OLED Penta Tandem. MSI lists around 30 percent higher light efficiency compared to earlier designs. The panel delivers up to 300 nits in SDR and peaks at 1,300 nits in HDR. It carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification and covers roughly 99 percent of the DCI-P3 color space.

The updated panel introduces an RGB stripe subpixel layout, improving text clarity compared to previous QD-OLED implementations used in ASUS ROG Swift OLED XG27AQDMG. MSI also adds a DarkArmor film layer to improve perceived contrast and reduce reflections in brighter environments.

The combination of a 360Hz refresh rate with an OLED panel remains uncommon, especially at this price point.

OLED Care 3.0 is included alongside an AI Care Sensor that can dim or turn off the panel when no user is detected, helping limit long-term panel wear.

Connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1a (UHBR13.5), two HDMI 2.1 ports, and USB Type-C with up to 98W power delivery, aligning with newer standards seen in Ugreen Thunderbolt 5 docking stations. Additional ports include USB-A, USB-B, and a headphone jack.

Compared to the earlier MPG 341CQPX, the X36 increases refresh rate to 360Hz and raises peak HDR brightness, making it the higher-end option in MSI’s ultrawide OLED lineup.

The pricing has changed a few times since it was first announced. It was originally expected to cost $1,099, then dropped to $949, and is now selling for $899 in the US as a permanent price cut. In the UK, it’s listed at £998, though availability is still limited.
