MSI has officially launched the SPATIUM M571 DLP, its new flagship PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD powered by the Phison PS5028 E28 controller. This next-generation Gen5 M.2 2280 SSD expands MSI’s high-performance storage lineup as PCIe 5.0 platforms become more common across AMD AM5 and Intel desktop systems.
The SSD is now available through MSI’s official sales channels and is designed for enthusiasts, competitive gamers, and professional creators looking for one of the fastest PCIe 5.0 SSDs available in 2026.
The SPATIUM M571 DLP uses the latest Phison E28 controller and combines it with advanced 218-layer 3D NAND flash memory. It comes in the standard M.2 2280 form factor and supports the NVMe 2.0 specification over a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface.
The drive is fully compatible with modern AMD Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 8000 series platforms on AM5, as well as Intel 13th and 14th Gen Core processors that include Gen5 NVMe slots. For example, MSI’s high-end AM5 platforms, such as the MEG X870E GODLIKE MAX, which features expanded BIOS capacity and extreme overclocking support, are built to fully utilize next-generation PCIe 5.0 storage performance.
MSI claims the SSD can deliver sequential read speeds of up to 14,500 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 11,000 MB/s, placing it firmly in the 14.5 GB/s class of flagship Gen5 NVMe drives. Random write performance reaches up to 2.6 million IOPS, while random read performance also scales up to 2.6 million IOPS on higher capacity models.
These figures position the SPATIUM M571 DLP among the fastest consumer PCIe 5.0 SSDs currently available, competing directly with other Phison E28-based Gen5 SSDs from leading storage brands.
The drive comes with LPDDR4 DRAM cache using a 1:1000 ratio, which helps it keep performance steady during heavy workloads. This is useful for tasks like transferring large files, editing 4K or 8K videos, installing large AAA games, working with Unreal Engine projects, running AI-assisted content tools, or handling demanding productivity applications.
MSI rates the drive’s maximum power usage at 6.5W, which is relatively low for a PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD. Earlier Gen5 SSDs using the Phison E26 controller were known for running hotter and often required large heatsinks or even active cooling. The newer E28 controller is designed to be more power efficient, maintain stable performance for longer periods, and generate less heat under load.
The SPATIUM M571 DLP is available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, targeting high-end gaming PCs and professional workstations. Endurance ratings increase with capacity: 700TBW for the 1TB model, 1,400TBW for the 2TB version, and 2,800TBW for the 4TB variant. All models come with a five-year limited warranty, aligning with industry standards for premium Gen5 M.2 NVMe SSDs in the enthusiast storage segment.
MSI has also added proprietary data loss protection technology to enhance reliability. This feature is designed to safeguard data in case of sudden power loss or unexpected shutdowns, which is increasingly important for users handling large project files, creative workloads, and expanding game libraries. While primarily positioned as a high-performance consumer SSD, the added reliability features make it attractive for semi-professional and workstation-class systems.
For users upgrading from high-end PCIe 4.0 SSDs such as the Samsung 990 Pro or similar flagship Gen4 NVMe drives, moving to a Phison E28-based PCIe 5.0 SSD like the M571 DLP can deliver significantly higher sequential throughput while improving overall power efficiency compared to early Gen5 implementations. As PCIe 5.0 adoption continues to grow across AMD and Intel ecosystems, storage performance is becoming increasingly relevant for next-generation gaming and creative workflows.
Technologies like Microsoft DirectStorage are expected to benefit from ultra-fast Gen5 NVMe SSDs, particularly as future game engines rely more heavily on rapid asset streaming and reduced load times. With sequential speeds reaching 14.5 GB/s, drives in this performance tier move beyond synthetic benchmarks and begin to offer tangible advantages in high-bandwidth use cases.

The SPATIUM M571 DLP, MSI is clearly targeting the premium PCIe 5.0 SSD market for 2026. It competes directly in the flagship Gen5 NVMe SSD category, where performance, thermal efficiency, and endurance all matter.
The combination of 14.5 GB/s read speeds, up to 2.6 million IOPS, improved controller efficiency, 218-layer NAND, and a five-year warranty makes it a strong option for users building or upgrading high-end PCIe 5.0 desktop systems.
