AMD Ryzen AI Halo Mini PC Opens at $3,999 With 128GB Memory

After being previewed earlier this year, AMD’s Ryzen AI Halo Developer Platform has started appearing at retail. Micro Center is now taking pre-orders for the compact system in the United States, with both Linux and Windows 11 Pro versions listed at $3,999.99.

The two SKUs share the same hardware. Buyers can choose between Linux or Windows 11 Pro, but pricing remains identical across both versions. Micro Center currently lists the systems for in-store pickup, and a shipping date has not yet been announced.

AMD equips the developer platform with its Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, a 16-core, 32-thread Strix Halo chip that combines Zen 5 CPU cores, Radeon 8060S graphics, and a 50 TOPS XDNA 2 NPU. Every configuration listed by Micro Center includes 128GB of LPDDR5X-8000 unified memory and a 2TB SSD.

The 128GB memory configuration is what separates this system from most mini PCs. AMD says developers can run AI models with up to 200 billion parameters using supported quantized workloads. Because the CPU and Radeon 8060S graphics share the same memory pool, large models can be loaded without the memory limitations that often come with smaller integrated systems.

The chassis remains much smaller than a traditional workstation, measuring roughly 149 × 149 × 43 mm. Despite its compact size, AMD includes a 120W power adapter, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and 10Gb Ethernet connectivity.

Micro Center’s specifications list three USB Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.1 output, a dedicated USB-C power input, and DisplayPort Alt Mode support through one of the USB-C connections.

AMD is also putting significant attention on Linux users. ROCm support is available from the start, making the platform suitable for local AI development without relying entirely on cloud services. Phoronix additionally reports that AMD has been working on Linux support for the system’s RGB light bar hardware.

The Ryzen AI Halo Developer Platform was originally shown during CES as a reference system for developers building local AI applications around Strix Halo hardware. With pre-orders now live, it becomes one of the first retail products built around AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 platform.
