ASUS Teases ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace 24.5-Inch Esports Monitor with 540Hz Refresh Rate

ASUS has teased a new high speed gaming monitor called the ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace, marketing it as the first OLED screen built specifically for competitive esports. The teaser, shared on the official Republic of Gamers social channels, points to a Computex reveal where full hardware details will be shown.

The upcoming esports monitor features a 24.5-inch screen and a very fast 540Hz refresh rate. This screen size matches the standard layout used in professional first person shooter (FPS) tournaments, helping players see the entire display without moving their heads too much during matches.

Historically, professional gamers preferred TN or fast IPS panels because they reached the high refresh rates needed for competitive play. However, these displays had poor colors and bad contrast. The new ROG Strix display combines the fast response times of OLED panels with high-frequency refresh rates, bringing deep black levels and vibrant colors to the esports arena.

At 540Hz, the monitor will provide extremely fluid animations during fast motion. This speed level places it alongside other ultra-fast displays like the LG 1000Hz gaming monitor, giving professional players a clear visual advantage in dynamic shooters.

ASUS teaser highlighting 540Hz refresh rate, OLED panel technology, and 24.5-inch display size
The teaser confirms three key details of ASUS’s upcoming esports monitor: a 24.5-inch OLED panel and a 540Hz refresh rate.

Most high speed OLED monitors currently on the market measure 27 inches or larger, and many use dual-mode technology to switch between 4K at 240Hz and 1080p at 480Hz. The new ASUS monitor is built specifically for players who prefer a compact display format to keep their focus centered on the action.

While earlier reports indicated that panel manufacturers like Samsung were developing 24-inch 1080p OLED panels in the 300Hz to 360Hz range, ASUS has secured a much faster 540Hz panel. This makes it a smaller, more focused alternative compared to wider AOC dual-mode OLED displays.

ASUS has not yet disclosed the full technical specifications, such as the exact resolution, brightness, response time, ports, or price. Full details are expected to be revealed at the upcoming Computex event.
