Microsoft has introduced updated versions of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 processors. The refresh brings faster graphics performance, additional memory configurations, new color options, and updated hardware features across both product lines.
The new devices are available starting June 16, with Snapdragon-powered business models scheduled to launch on July 14. Surface Pro 12 starts at $1,499, while Surface Laptop 8 starts at $1,599. Both base configurations include a Snapdragon X2 Plus processor, 16GB of memory, and a 512GB SSD.
Surface Pro 12 Adds Snapdragon X2 and New Dune Keyboard Option
Surface Pro 12 retains Microsoft’s detachable 2-in-1 design while moving to Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X2 platform. Buyers can choose between Snapdragon X2 Plus and Snapdragon X2 Elite processors, both paired with Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU rated at up to 80 TOPS.
The device is available with 16GB, 24GB, 32GB, or 64GB of memory and up to 1TB of SSD storage.
Microsoft says graphics performance is up to 53% faster than the previous generation. Battery life is rated at up to 15.5 hours of local video playback.
Surface Pro 12 features a 13-inch PixelSense Flow display with support for up to a 120Hz refresh rate. Microsoft continues to offer both LCD and OLED display options, with the OLED model reaching up to 900 nits of HDR brightness.

The device is available in Platinum, Black, and Dune finishes. Microsoft has also introduced a matching Dune version of the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard.
Customers purchasing Surface Pro 12 through June 30 can receive a Surface Pro Keyboard at no additional cost, while eligible trade-ins can provide savings of up to $900.
Surface Laptop 8 Gets Sharper 15-Inch Display and Haptic Touchpad
Surface Laptop 8 receives the same Snapdragon X2 processor options and memory configurations as Surface Pro 12, with support for 16GB, 24GB, 32GB, or 64GB of RAM.
The laptop remains available in 13.8-inch and 15-inch sizes. The 15-inch model now features a higher-resolution display with a pixel density of 262 PPI, up from 201 PPI on the previous generation.
Microsoft has also added a new haptic touchpad designed to provide tactile feedback across Windows and supported applications.

A new Jade color joins the existing Platinum, Black, and Dune finishes on the 13.8-inch model.
Battery life is rated at up to 20 hours of local video playback on the 13.8-inch model and up to 19 hours on the 15-inch version.
